Aarambha: Learn & Invest - Duolingo X Spotify for Investing

by
Our app teaches users the basics of finance through bite-sized, interactive lessons (similar to Duolingo), and as they learn, they unlock personalized investment portfolios, which we call playlists. These playlists are tailored to their goals, risk levels, and learning progress so investing feels simple and guided, allowing them to start investing with confidence.

When I was 18, I saw many people getting rich through investing and felt the 'FOMO' hard. I downloaded an investing app but start but quickly realized I didn't have the knowledge or skills to do it right and I had no clue what I was doing. There were many investing platforms out there, but none offered real guidance. I had to learn the fundamentals through trial and error and lost some money as well, but eventually, I got better at it. But consistently getting good returns was tough. I then checked out professional wealth management services, but the fees were way too expensive and thought to myself, there had a better way. After 6 months of research and talking to customers, we realized that finance in India is broken: 1. Wealth managers in India sell only high-fee mutual funds to retail investors instead of better options like direct funds to get the highest commission possible making it difficult for investors with small amounts to invest in good financial instruments. 2. Our initial surveys revealed that 60% of respondents want to start investing but don’t know how to begin and 78% had bad user experience with existing investing platforms. 3. Follow-up surveys confirmed interest in personalized investment playlists, with 70% wanting custom portfolios and 80% signing up for our waitlist after viewing our Figma mockup. With this data, we built our MVP and validated our learn first, invest second hypothesis. -> 80% of users completed Chapter 1 and wanted more chapters to learn. -> 50% wanted to invest in the playlist we recommended after chapter 1 All our competitors focus on pushing investment products, earning commissions, and targeting users who are already investing and just want to maximize returns but try to sell the same products to folks who don't even know how to begin. We understand that the real problem is trust & confidence, not access. First-time investors feel lost, overwhelmed, and scared of making mistakes. So we start with education, build trust & confidence through interactive learning, and only then unlock personalized investing. Our model is aligned with long-term user habits, not selling risky and expensive products for a quick commission.
