Fixing the locators has never been easier!

by•

Someone renames a button. Your Playwright test breaks.

Fixing the locator is usually straightforward; checking that the replacement still clicks the right thing takes more care.

I’m one of the people building 9lives at QualityMax. It works with your existing Playwright suite and keeps assertions unchanged during repair.

In our Demo Bank example, we deliberately broke a button locator. 9l repaired it offline, reran the spec, and saved the passing candidate for review. You can reproduce that example from the repo.

Beyond healing, 9l can assess tests for problems such as fixed waits and missing assertions. An optional QA skill helps coding agents write and check Playwright tests, and MCP tools let agents use the runner directly.

It’s open source, runs on Linux, macOS and Windows, and needs no QualityMax account.

Healing is still experimental. A passing rerun can miss a wrong click when the assertions are weak. Feedback from early users has already led us to track better target evidence and checks for competing repairs.

Try it on one failing spec from your suite. I’d love to hear whether reviewing the repair saves you time, and what you’d need to see before trusting it. Forks, issues and PRs are welcome.
