The journal started from a place of passion. In my journals' pages, starting from a very young age, I expressed my true self. The self that, at times, I was afraid to show the world. Through my writing, I realized that I could transcend some of those fears and notice patterns holding me back and empty the ruminating thoughts onto the page. Journalling was supporting me! The designing of these cards was an intimate process for me. A little bit of me is in every card. The images are not mine, but the selection of them was a time-consuming process. The title card, with an owl, represents my spirit animal name. Grounded Snow Owl was the name given to me in a ceremonial weekend of profound exploration, including fasting, sweat lodges, and icy cold plunges into the lake. The retreat was an awaking of a deeper side of me that existed underneath the stories I was telling myself about how things should be versus how things are. As you journey through these questions in the way that suits your spirit, remember to see the questions as gateways that you can either choose to or choose not to pass through. There is no 'right way' to write in a journal. A sincere intention to explore ones self is all that is required. The most straightforward practice sometimes yields the greatest gifts. Journaling reminds me of an old nursery rhyme that I always enjoyed called 'The Wise Old Owl.' A wise old owl lived in an oak, The more he saw, the less he spoke. The less he spoke, the more he heard, Now, wasn't he a wise old bird? It reminds me of the power of silent reflection. Rising above the noise of conversation and bringing life to the inner world through the page's words. It is my sincere hope that you enjoy using these cards as much as I enjoyed creating them.
