The idea for BakiBook came from a very real and simple moment. One day, my friend and I went to a local tea shop we regularly visit. My friend often buys tea and snacks on baki (due), and the shopkeeper keeps all the records in a traditional notebook. That day, my friend wanted to pay one of his old bills. The shopkeeper started searching through pages and pages of handwritten notes to find his name. It took almost 10 minutes just to locate the correct entry. But the bigger problem came after that. There was another line written: “৳200 extra due.” Neither my friend nor the shopkeeper could remember what that amount was actually for. That moment made me realize how difficult and messy due management still is for small local businesses. Most grocery stores and tea shops still depend entirely on notebooks, memory, and manual calculations. So I built BakiBook. I intentionally kept everything extremely simple because the target users are everyday local shopkeepers, not tech-savvy users. No complicated setup. No confusing dashboards. Just: - Register with a phone number and 4-digit PIN - Add customer names - Track due and payments easily - Automatically calculate balances The goal was to create something that feels as easy as using a notebook — but safer, faster, and impossible to lose.
