Americans spend 15 billion hours every year shopping for groceries. All of those people would rather be doing something else.
This isn't a new idea: a dot-com called Webvan raised a Series A from Sequoia and Benchmark and 1996, and went public a few years later. 5 years later, Webvan went bankrupt and became the face of the Dot-com crash, along with other good startup ideas that came too early. 😳
Fast forward to today: Sequoia-backed Instacart just announced a $200M new funding round, valuing the company at $4.2 unicorns. 🦄
Instacart isn't the only food delivery startup out there:
🤖 Meet Kiwibot, food delivery robots for college campuses. They're also adorable, and already delivering food autonomously at Berkeley in SF.
🚌 There's Robomart, a self-driving grocery store that wants to bring fresh produce directly to your door. Launched to much fanfare at CES.
🎰 Bodega, the controversial vending machine, is still delivering all of your non-perishables with automated corner stores in your apartment building.
🥕 YC-backed Farmstead is delivering better groceries for busy people (delivered in under 60 minutes), including on-demand Lacroix.
If all of this is making you hungry, here's some augmented reality food to help tide you over until breakfast. 👀
It’s Valentine’s Day and we’ve prepared a few products for every situation. Choose the scenario that best fits you:
Scenario A: You have a date with your long-term SO. 🙂
Scenario B: You've been set up on a blind date. 😬
Scenario C: You're in a long distance relationship and love Netflix... 🍿
Scenario D: You hate Valentine's Day. 💔
Last minute gift ideas: engrave your love on the blockchain (really!), or make the perfect Spotify-powered mixtape for your boo.
Every SpaceX launch builds the foundation for the next. 2010's Falcon 9 rocket was perfected and combined into the Falcon Heavy. The data collected from last week's launch will power the BF rocket, taking our entire species to Mars and beyond. 🚀
It's essential to build with the future in mind. So, we've partnered with DigitalOcean to help you grow, with free (exclusive!) cloud infrastructure credit to scale your app in the cloud. Boom.
DigitalOcean isn't your typical cloud. With add-on storage and security, you can run your entire application directly on their cloud without worrying about growing too quickly (like after your Product Hunt launch). 😅

Despite the price swings and frequent comparisons to tulips, Bitcoin and the blockchain is here to stay. Microsoft is now selling Blockchain-as-a-Service and Robinhood's new cryptocurrency trading platform has 1,000,000+ users waiting for access.
Many of these currencies don't have world-changing use cases yet, but the first wave of blockchain Beanie Babies has definitely arrived.
🌷 Design and trade tulips on the blockchain. Powered by the same browser-based software as CryptoKitties, you can now breed your own unique digital tulips on the Ethereum blockchain. Tastefully ironic.
🐶 Breedable dogs on the blockchain. Chinese tech giant Baidu launched CryptoDoggies, a near close of the adorable, collectible CryptoKitties whose transactions almost broke Ethereum this summer.
📸 Famous celebrities on the blockchain. Elon Musk, Angelina Jolie, Kanye West, and Vitalik Buterin are all available for sale... well, sort of. Crypto trading cards of your favorite celebs are here.
🦌 Alpacas on the blockchain. Adopt, breed, and feed adorable alpaca that live directly on the blockchain. From the comments: "My GF always wanted her own alpaca and her birthday is coming up. Perfect timing!" 😂
🦎 Pokémon on the blockchain. Every Pokémon Go fan wanted to battle their captured monsters: now you can. CryptoFighters are trainable, collectible warriors that live in the Ethereum blockchain.
Not sure how blockchains work? Here's a beautiful visual demonstration of the technology behind Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more. ⛓️📦
Every day at Product Hunt, we celebrate the accomplishments of diverse makers, from indie developers hacking on a side project in Paris to venture-backed startups in the States.
Building anything is tough. The fear of failure, the long nights and weekends, and endless frustration. It's both unavoidable and laudable.
Today, we're launching Maker Stories: a weekly series highlighting makers from the Product Hunt community from around the world, sharing their backstory, struggles, and favorite emoji. 🤗
As a special launch day treat, we’re releasing the first batch Netflix-style so you can binge the first three stories on your morning commute:
🇮🇹 An ex-Adobe engineer moved to Italy to build a to-do list for your entire life. We talked with Kaitlyn, founder of Simply.Digital, about straying from a conventional career path.
😻 Build your business on the internet’s love of cats. Belgium's Bregt Colpaert has built his livelihood with small feline art and fashion pieces that don't come from a factory.
🛠️ Build any software, no code required. Meet Emmanuel, a Harvard Business School graduate whose development platform lets anyone build web apps without a single line of code. It's like magic.

Cryptocurrency prices continue to fall, with Bitcoin prices hovering around $8,000 from a high of $18,000 over the summer.
Instead of buying a Lamborghini with their #profits, former cryptocurrency millionaires and their cryptokitties are sitting at home, hodling, praying.
For many, this is a wake-up call to take financial responsibility. Former Google Ventures partner Chris Hutchins just launched Grove, a human-powered financial planner for your life. The onboarding is beauuuuuutiful.
Instead of hunting through the internet, you can actually talk with the advisors at Grove on the phone (revolutionary!) and put together a plan.
There's also Earny, a magical personal assistant that automatically gets you money back when prices drop at Amazon, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and others. They've raised over $10M to help you save. 🔥
Stop paying for subscriptions you never use. This powerful subscription canceller will find, monitor, and make it easy to cancel useless services.
Billshark's another 💰-saving app, hated by cable companies. Sign up and they'll negotiate your internet and TV bill for you. Sorry, Comcast. 😬
Be like the money cat, and your Lamborghini will come.
