Open model season

Ollama, a tool that lets devs easily run open models on their Macs and PCs, just raised $65M in a Series B.Ā
The tool first popped up on Product Huntās radar back in 2023 when founder and CEOĀ Jeff MorganĀ shared the launch. The idea was simple: Running open models likeĀ QwenĀ andĀ MistralĀ required lots of setup and installation. Why not create a tool that did all the setup in a few clicks?
Now there are even more open models popping up. If thatās your thing, weāve got two July launches to show you:Ā
- LongCat 2.0:Ā āan MIT-licensed 1.6T-parameter MoE model with ~48B active parameters, 1M context, LongCat Sparse Attention, and post-training for coding and agentic workflowsā
- FUTO Swipe:Ā āa family of small, open models for accurate swipe typing. It includes a layout-agnostic encoder, a layout-specific decoder, and a lightweight context language model."

What's new in AI voice agents

Hello. Who dis? AI agents donāt just live inside the chat anymore. They want to talk to you. Here are five recent launches in the AI voice agent space:Ā
- ToyoĀ saw a bunch of AI assistants that could read text, but none that you could just hop on a phone call with. Toyo will call you to chat about todayās agenda.
- AsmiĀ also picks up the phone, first to call you and see what needs doing ā and then to ring the plumber, the dentist, and that one guy who owes you money.
- FiniĀ launched an AI customer support agent last year, then saw it was only as good as its sources ā many of which were stale and needed revisions from the team. So Fini launchedĀ Knowledge Atlas, āa self-learning knowledge base that updates itself.āĀ
- TytoĀ is for people building their own voice agents. It helps you figure out when and how bad audio is causing breakdowns in agentsā outputs so you can make them more durable for the noisiest of real-world situations.
- RelayĀ is a fast way to create an AI receptionist that knows your business. When it gets stumped, it brings in a human ā and remembers the answer for next time.Ā

Grow your app with Setapp: revenue, users, & AI

You shipped the app. Now comes the part nobody warns you about.
Billing across dozens of countries. Licensing agreements. Tax compliance. Customer support for users you haven't met yet. And if your app does anything with AI, add provider management and infrastructure costs to the pile. None of that is why you started building ā but all of it is now your problem.
Setapp is trying to take it off your plate.
You probably know Setapp as the subscription marketplace ā one monthly price, hundreds of Mac apps. On May 21st, they turned toward developers. The pitch is simple: list your app, reach users who are already looking, and let Setapp handle the business layer.
Stop the scream

by Pricus Estudio of Crony
Like many of you, getting my kids to transition between activities, like leaving the park or finishing screen time, was a daily battle. To a toddler, "5 more minutes" means absolutely nothing.
So, I vibe-coded a solution.
Instead of a stressful ticking clock, I built a visual timer just for our family. A tiny character walks across a path of colorful blocks. When the path fills up, time is up.
The result? My kids started racing the character to get dressed or brush their teeth. It turned daily friction into a game.
After seeing the peace it brought to our home, I spent the last few weeks polishing it into a real product.
