Oh hi, AI in Google Search

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall for the preparations that mustāve gone into this yearās edition of Google's highly anticipated I/O developer conference...
Of the many exciting announcements, letās zero in on the release of the updated version of Googleās large language model (LLM), PaLM 2 ā soon to be accessible to makers and developers via the PaLM API.
PaLM 2 is also the LLM behind another of I/Oās big announcements: the addition of generative AI results to Google Search, which theyāre calling āAI snapshots,ā available on some (not all) search results to users who opt in to the āSearch Generative Experience.ā
As David Pierce reports for the Verge, this long-awaited answer to Microsoftās Bing AI is kind of a big deal: āGoogle is putting AI front and center in the most valuable real estate on the internet: its existing search results.ā
Users can also experience PaLM 2 by using Googleās chatbot, Bard, which is now open to everyone, even if you werenāt on the waitlist. Bardās LLM was recently switched from LaMDA to PaLM 2, which Google called āa much more capable model.ā
What do you think, will PaLM 2 and the API release be enough to reestablish Googleās edge over the market and compete, for example, with OpenAIās GPT-4?
So weāre just⦠talking to software now?

ElevenLabs has been the go-to for voice for a while. Now they've turned that expertise into agents that actually get things done. You set one up, it talks like a real person, listens, responds, and helps handle the task ā support calls, bookings, whatever the job is. Not a demo, not a "press 1 for sales" situation. It's ready to deploy. Feels like one of those shifts where the interface quietly changes. Less typing, less clicking, more just saying what needs to happen and letting it play out.
