PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT
Make your kid the main character

In Hollywood, Artificial Intelligence is usually cast as the catalyst or at least the sidekick to the downfall of society.

What if AI can paint itself a different picture? A couple of new launches present a very charming use of AI that’s definitely not the same vibes as the unnerving humanoid Haley Joe Osment portrayed on the silver screen.

AI for bedtime stories: StoriesForKids.ai and Storywizard.ai are two new tools to help parents create stories for their kids from just a few prompts. That means stories can feature your child (or nephew, etc.) or their favorite character. These custom, easy-to-build stories can also conveniently be used to teach pertinent lessons to your child, like how to clean up their toys.

StoriesForKids ask for a few fill-in-blanks responses, including the interests of the main character and moral of the story. Brian Roy, who works as a Director of Product Design at Spotify, created StoriesForKids while on parental leave. He explained: “As a recent first-time parent, I ran out of books quickly. Sure, repetition can help make bedtime routines a bit more predictable. But something more engaging had the potential to make reading fun for both of us — the same way building LEGOs is more fun than playing with the final product.”

Storywizard was created by maker Nadav Yaron, a UX designer and art director. Storywizard has you come up with a couple of sentences to create your story's plot. It spits out a story about ten pages long. You can edit the text after and generate new images, too.

How well do they work? Like any products created with this tech so far, the generated text may not be ideal out the gate; the art may even be a little creepy. However, spinning up a new story or pictures is super simple and we’re excited to see the technology itself improve the experience over time.

The makers are also looking for your feedback to make the products even better. You know what to do...
