Is blogging better than social media marketing a given? I'm interested in other people's experience, which one brings better traffic for your business, organic SEO traffic from blogging, or social media?

Blogging allows more detailed content; fosters deeper audience engagement.
Jennifer McKnight
Blogging allows for longer, more detailed content that can attract readers interested in specific topics, while social media marketing is limited by short posts and relies on algorithms for visibility.

While blogging provides these benefits, it's also vital to remember that social media marketing offers advantages of its own, like virality, immediacy, and the capacity to interact with a wide audience. You can expand your audience and accomplish your marketing objectives more successfully by incorporating social media and blogging into your entire plan.

I'm not sure it's "better" it's just part of the marketing mix. People have different ways they consume content. Some prefer video to reading...perhaps the better question is; what does your potential customer value and prefer?

Blogging drives organic and social media drives direct. None is better than the other. They're just radically different.

It probably also depends on your clientele.

@trumpeter and what if when you are building your own product?

@neha_8 I think that a problem is that it's much harder to get a decent following on blogging than on social media. But if you already have a considerable blogging following from the beginning, then blogging may be an excellent medium to go more in-depth with your product.

I think both can be powerful when they work hand-in-hand. You should blog about topics you're passionate about and answer questions that come from experience. Social media marketing can help you then break the blog down and put it out as thoughtful pieces of discourse.

Blogging and social media marketing serve different purposes, and neither is inherently better than the other. Blogging offers in-depth content, improves SEO, and establishes authority. Social media marketing provides real-time engagement, broad reach, and diverse content formats. The effectiveness depends on your goals, target audience, and the nature of your content strategy. Integrating both can create a powerful marketing approach.

I think it depends on your target audience and where they hang out. I've seen social media marketing work a treat for B2C products - whether physical or digital. We have a B2(small)B and blogging works way better for us.

Blogging is more long term, I think. It depends on how ambitious you are.

If you ignore SEO, your SaaS is asking for trouble. It pays to focus on SEO now rather than play catch up later. Here's why: Fewer conversions = less money Are questions unanswered? No sale. Increase quality of traffic vs. quantity because they are actively searching for it. Paid search costs more, especially without a way to capture their contact info on organic content - your marketing budget is toast. Most low-ticket offers aren't worth running paid ads to because your profit margin is diminished.
