Hi, I'm James, a software dev with an existing product, I'm considering launching it here, but, I'd love to hear from others where do you start with this process? I've read the guides/help. Want to hear from people who've actually done this though. In return, hit me up if you want help with launching a product into the wild (make sure to include a note saying you responded to me on PH! https://www.linkedin.com/in/jame...) Cheers!

We are also a technical team and we are doing our first ever launch today! You have read the guides, so you know how it generally works. In principle, it really is quite simple. Set up your launch with all of the information, assets, etc, write a nice first comment. Have it all ready 31 days before your intended launch date. Why 31 days? Because you can set up a Teaser page so that you are in the upcoming list for 30 days. But to do that, you need to claim your Product Hub (because ProductHunt needs to know that you are actually the maker) and this can take a little time. To choose your launch day, you can look some recommendations up. Generally it appears that in the middle of the week, you get more competition, but more views, whereas on the weekend, you get less competition, but also less views. So consider whether you want to go for the badge of being one of the top products or if you want to get a lower ranking, but potentially more views (as far as I could read, you still get more views during the week, even if you are ranked lower). This is the very basic stuff and if your product is good, this can already give you quite some attention and upvotes. Of course, you can try to actively promote your launch to increase its impact. The more votes you get, the higher your chance of being featured, the higher your chance of more people seeing it, the more votes you get... I am not very good at this myself, but you can try the obvious things. Promote it on your social media channels. Tell your network. Be active in the ProductHunt community and build up a following. Particularly within the last week before your launch, you will have a "Launching soon!" badge next to your name on the website, and if people hover over it, they will see your product. So, you can try to increase visibility by being particularly active then.

@kevin_brendel Wow, thanks man :) really appreciate your reply. Super helpful. Also like the idea of taking time to do this, I'm thankfully not in a rush. Didn't realise I had to claim anything, so looks like I am going to need to read the guides again and figure out what a product hub is. I've seen other product pages where there's a link/button called "claim this product", is that what you mean by claim my product hub? What's your product by the way?

@jeducious Glad it helps! Yes that should be it. I also read the guides and only found that out when actually doing it, so you are not alone! Our product is QuikFlow: https://www.producthunt.com/prod...

I think time - engaging - genuine support - and real connections are going to get you farther in this app. If you support peoples launches first - they're going to be much more likely to come to support you when the time comes.
