When the idea is new, like a startup, how do you estimate the work?

https://vadimkravcenko.com/short... I've worked many positions in tech, estimations are usually the hardest to get right... a mix of estimating unknown solutions, designers not understanding what makes a design hard to do... or the best one... changing scope mid sprint. In a startup, scope creep can be a killer... have you guys got any tips or bad/ good experiences?

I think the "planning poker" estimation style works well

@mikeyoung44 yea it does work ok, but when you are trying to gauge how long something will take to build to allow other teams to plan accordingly, the poker numbers usually end up being converted to time... so, we ditched the cards and just went with days. But of course, this completely depends on the experience of the team with both the product and their profession.
