What have you learned being on Product Hunt for a while?

I learned that people are supportive and keen to discuss their products, but there's no good outlet to do it. Discussing here on PH is hard because links are often blocked. Chatting on LinkedIn, X, Reddit are equally problematic due to restrictions on those platforms. Anyone else have the same problem?

@jgani What do you mean that there are restrictions on X, LinkedIn, and Reddit? Just curious since i havent experienced this, but also fairly new to the space

@yukioyama On X your ability to reach the broader audience is not up to you, but its algo. While many people use X to connect with their "fans", I don't see it working for me. Any time I post an update about my product, only a few people will see it, unless the X algo random decides that to make the post viral. Like PH, LinkedIn has spam issues, so it limits the number of connections you can make, etc. The Reddit crowd is a lot more critical than PH. Innocent posts/comments can easily land in hot water. I was hoping that PH would be a good platform to connect with people, but in its effort to fight spam PH makes genuine conversation hard for me. Half of the Discussions that I submit are hidden, and most of my links are blocked.

Product Hunt surprised me very positively. During the product launch I met a lot of new people who are kind and very helpful, sharing their experiences which seemed something new to me. Of course, this is all done outside of PH. I think PH should work on the forms of communication of users, which could result in additional income from premium accounts or something of that.

Being on Product Hunt has taught me the importance of community feedback in refining and improving products. It's a vibrant platform where innovative ideas meet constructive criticism, driving growth and excellence.
