What do you think of looking for private beta testers on PH discussions before a PH public launch?

To me, it sounds like one of the most optimal ways of launching publicly on PH. I will do something similar as well. Best of luck!

Sounds like a great idea, the better the product the better the launch.

I've been trying to find early adopters / beta testers on PH for my product Sleek Pay. While the community has been super supportive, I haven't been able to drive tons of beta testers. So that's something to consider - but if you crack it, please let me know! Would be happy to support each other

@daniel_baum thanks for sharing your experience. Do you have any idea what drove the fact that the volume of beta-testers you managed to get was not matching your expectations? Any ball park number so I can figure out what to expect?

I think it's fine if they have a reason to sign up. Maybe you pre-sell the product's benefits in exchange for their understanding that it'll be a better price because they'll be a beta tester? Seems like asking people to do you the favour of testing really removes the perception of value. When in reality a great product, at the end of the testing process, is very valuable. Paying less today in exchange for a good deal on better value later could be worth trying? It's hard to ask people for a favour. It's easier to sell something they consider valuable (especially if it's for a discount). Hope that helps!! Good luck!

@darwin_binesh I can not agree more agree with you, playing with psychological bias is really something to have in mind. Not sure we will be ready to propose paid plans at that time, but I definitely need to figure it out.

@thatswam it’s tricky for sure. I offered a lifetime deal in exchange for them buying before it was built. Could you try that?

@darwin_binesh wow that's nice if could do that, how did it work? Not sure whether people will be willing to pay at that point. I was counting on the beta testers feedback to me evaluate how much value the product has for users, and decide whether I'd propose a paid plan right away when we open the beta to the public.

@darwin_binesh @thatswam what I did was mention my community and all of it’s future benefits - but also added how we’d have discount codes on other software. So that way even if the community wasn’t that great, the discount codes were immediate value so people bought it. Part of pre-selling is also about selling the ideal outcome. “It’ll save you time” for example - but without specifics on how. As you develop the how, they can confirm or deny its delivering. What are your thoughts? Is there anything with immediate value related to what your customers want that you can bundle in?

It's a good idea
