I saw a release about this yesterday and I'm interested to hear what you guys think. What impact do you think this is going to have on video producers, video software and filmmakers? What about it's impact on the video industry on a whole? What about the ethics of it all?

It is a brilliant step taken by ChatGPT because Google Gemini 1.5 Pro was recently released. ChatGPT wants to maintain its position at the top of the market. ChatGPT doesn't want to give Gemini any opportunity to surpass it.

@bingeisland Yes, both are trying to capture the market as Google dominates the search engine market and cannot afford to face additional competitors.

I am certain there will be some pushback on adoption of such tools in major filmmaking industries like the Hollywood; if OpenAI choose to release it to all creators. AI adoption was a major talking point in the negotiations of the recent writer's strike in the Hollywood in late 2023 with the major production studios, and I believe some promises were made to protect assets, image rights and to prevent usage of AI generated video or audio content. However, independently generated content will change forever and it all depends on how OpenAI decides to provide access to Sora. Exciting times are ahead!

@sambit_bhaumik I agree with you. Although I think the pushbacks will simply lead to the production houses trying to find ways around working with the actors and other members of the industry. I believe in collaboration, though, so let's see if they work to collaborate more with actors and writers instead of working independently of them.
