As software engineers, many of us have a deep understanding of the technical aspects of building and maintaining software apps/systems. However, making the transition from a technical role to a business role can be challenging, as it often requires developing new skills and ways of thinking. For those of us who have made this transition, our experiences can provide valuable insights and lessons for others who are considering making a similar move. By sharing our stories, we can help others to understand better the challenges they may face, and provide them with practical advice for overcoming those challenges. So, what's your story? As a software engineer who has transitioned to a business role, I have faced a number of challenges, such as the need to develop new skills, adapt to a different work environment, and build new professional relationships. Some of the common challenges I have encountered include a lack of business knowledge and experience, difficulty communicating with non-technical stakeholders, and the need to adapt to a new working environment and culture. To overcome these challenges, I have taken a number of steps, such as developing new skills through courses, workshops, and mentors, networking and building relationships with other professionals in the business world, and seeking out mentors who can provide guidance and support. These steps have helped me to successfully navigate the challenges of transitioning from a software engineering role to a business role.
