My Shower Thought: Why always text myself on WhatsApp to remember things, when there's dope note-taking app out there. Do you text yourself on WhatsApp, Slack, SMS or other platforms? Why?

I email myself rather then text. But only the links to websites or other important/interesting stuff. All other notes I add to the Notes app on my iphone.

@hj_mindos for me it’s the easiest way to find my stuff. I use my email a lot (4 different email boxes ). You may not be able to access your phone all the time but you can always log into your email 😉

@simona_o_neill3 Wow. This is so unexpected! I'd find emailing unhandy haha

I do text to myself on WhatsApp. I find it convenient to do that since it uses the same behaviour of sharing something with your friends which you think they will find helpful. You can think of future you as a friend who will find what you are sharing today helpful :P

@aneesh_arora Why does it sound philosophical haha. Why not note app tho?

I also always write to myself on whtasapp. It feels like you have everything in one place and it can't get lost. I also use Apple Notes, as I then have everything compact and synchronised there with my other Apple devices

I text myself sometimes on Slack. I also drop links in there to remember them later.

Yesss, everywhere but SMS – helps me to save for later, and I basically have built a habit of checking them daily.

Interesting point! While texting yourself might seem odd, it's a common practice for quick notes and reminders. However, using a dedicated note-taking app can definitely help organize thoughts better. Plus, it's less confusing for your contacts to receive random messages from "yourself"! 😄

I know that I am going to open Whatsapp or my email at some point. I don't need to set a reminder of any sort. I already know (quite reliably) that my future self would encounter what I am sending it. The whole point is to reduce cognitive load, both now and overall. It is equivalent to leaving your umbrella by the front door.

It's because of the reminder. I know I'm going to open WhatsApp at some point anyway, so it's a place where I can guarantee that I'll remember.

I email myself sometimes, I'd probably use iOS reminders if I used a Mac computer at work There's an integration for Wunderlist or ToDoist to sync with iOS Reminders which is neat but doesn't always sync as well as it would if it were native

Idk for me I just use the reminders app, I check it daily. I formed a habit of it tbh.

Big Notion fan here. Create a tile on Home Screen that goes directly to my simple to do list. Works like a charm
