I'm curious to know why the significance of Google ranking and search engine optimization (SEO) persists despite the increasing use of conversational AI models like ChatGPT.

ChatGPT answers are not always right or verifiable. It’s reckless to depend on it completely and not fact-check answers with a quick Google search. So, for now I’d say they’re complementary.

Forward-thinking companies would know they still need to create expertly reviewed thought leadership content to train GPT on their subjects over time. Also, if GPT users ask for citations and research about a question, they may be linked back to the ranked pages.
