One thing that I would recommend especially for software/app tutorials is to be concise and not to beat around the bush. Attention spans are short. So it's best if you stick to the title of your video )) Do not make much investment at first. No fancy camera, studio, or setup is needed to test how videos work for you. Perhaps the only really good investment I would suggest is the microphone. As I mentioned microphone I would recommend using real voiceover or AI that is very close to real.

Speaking about interviews, I think that a good preparation is the key 🔑 You have to prepare questions that will not repeat itself (because when there is the interview with the same person and everybody asks the same question so it is nothing new for the viewer/listener), good Hooks are also crucial, sound effects and good audio are crucial as well and such things as zooming in and out can spicy the video. Just a quick overview. There are many things. But if someone have video making/filmmaking ambitions, I would recommend to start from the scratch and try to watch old movies to comprehend how people started work with camera. And starting with Lumière brothers, continuing with (not only) short movies from Georges Méliès etc. Cinematographic history...

We use video content to augment our blog content. I'd say go authentic over fancy production. Also there are so many great ways to utilize video... - short interviews on 1 topic, - a day in the lift - moving infographics with voice over etc. The best thing is that these days it's so quick to make.

Be sincere and show yourself. You can compromise video quality but you shouldn't compromise sound and proper light.

I started to work on video content in December of last year. At first I tried a bunch of different tools to find the one that came closest to what I needed(still exploring options). Learn the preferred tool's different functionalities (preferably its a popular tool with many video tutorials). If you want to create something more complex - don't be afraid to spend a bit of money on a freelancer but from the start explain that part of the collaboration would be them mentoring you. Always frame content into a story, write down the script of what you would be saying and the storyboard of what will be shown. Decide on the format - is the video for Mobile or Desktop, this entirely changes what you are able to record. Video of yourself or audio should be recorded separately after you've created the video content that would be shown - this way its much easier to narrate it compared to trying to do both at the same time. Dont be afraid to post things that are "work in progress" and have this be part of your story. It takes time to learn something new and people appreciate you for the story you convey and not so much how polished it is. Once you've figured out the basics - find out what are your limits. When you hit a wall in what you can do yourself a freelancer or professional firm will help you realize more complex projects but I would not recommend working with a professional firm until you have the basics down - this will help you a lot in meeting deadlines and preparing all the materials they would need to realize your vision. Finally, I personally find it very important to use a tool like Ora to catalogue and collaborate on the different videos I've created. Whether its our solution or some alternative like Trello, Clickup etc. if you are working on video content with a team it's much easier to have a common workspace.
