ChatGPT is insane innovation. Lots of discussions happening all around. As ChatGPT evolves and probably will answer anything one needs, what happens to Google Search and the SEO industry? Do you think a much bigger disruption is on the way?

Spammy automatically-generated content is currently a guideline violation. Will be interesting who will win the arms race here. How good will Google be at detecting it? I think much bigger disruption is in the way.

@gyi_tsakalakis yes. Fear is Google might get disrupted itself :)

I'll always go back to this tweet when it comes to ChatGPT "ChatGPT is an AI that has mastered a unique human skill, bullshitting. It knows what the shape of a good answer looks like but often not the details. But we’re now learning that even technical people are happy with an answer that looks right instead of is right."

It is definitely possible that a much bigger disruption is on the way, and chatbots may be responsible for it. ChatGPT is an amazing innovation because it allows users to have discussions with bots in real time, which obviously gives them a lot of insights that they might not otherwise be able to obtain. This technology could change the way people interact with search engines and other digital platforms in ways that we cannot currently imagine. This could impact SEO significantly because Google would no longer be able to rely solely on providing high-quality content to rank well in search engine results pages (SERPs). Instead, chatbot interactions could provide more detailed information about user preferences or needs, which would ultimately lead to better website rankings.

It is unlikely that the Google search and SEO industry is under threat from ChatGPT or other natural language processing technologies. While ChatGPT and other similar models have the ability to generate human-like text, they are not currently advanced enough to completely replace the need for human input and expertise in the field of search engine optimization. Google search and SEO involve a complex set of skills and knowledge, including an understanding of algorithms, user behavior, and content creation. ChatGPT and other natural language processing technologies may be able to assist with some aspects of SEO, such as keyword research or content generation, but they are not capable of replacing the expertise and creativity of human SEO professionals. Additionally, the field of SEO is constantly evolving, with new algorithms and ranking factors being introduced by Google and other search engines. This means that SEO professionals need to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the industry, and be able to adapt their strategies and tactics accordingly. This is something that ChatGPT and other natural language processing technologies are not currently able to do. Overall, while ChatGPT and other natural language processing technologies may have some potential applications in the field of SEO, they are not a threat to the industry as a whole. Human expertise and creativity will continue to be an essential part of search engine optimization.

@anshaj_goyal don't copy and paste answers from ChatGPT without any editing or style customisation :-)
