Build "Audience First"?

As someone who once in the past build a product without an audience, it can be a full blown war trying to get users...I'd prefer and advise any founder to follow the approach to build an audience first , invest time stalking around your target user/ audience and learn about them while at it. This can help you avoid ghost town quick.
