Wanted to share my experience in how to lead your product to get Product of the Day. We launched yesterday (Typed) and made it! It's a dream come true but certainly took a lot of preparation and trial/error. I'm going to write up a blog piece about it but before then if I can help any other makers, feel free to ask me anything in this thread!

What trial&error did you come through to get the Product of the Day ?

Would be an honor for me if you could share some of your tips also on my website here: https://www.startupdock.net/prod... It's a website with the best startup lessons under 250 characters. Congrats on your successful launch!

@jakub_piskor Hey Jakub, this is an awesome platform. I'm getting around to writing a longer piece, and when I'm done I'll summarize! Or feel free to quote me in any of these AMAs!

Hi Clint. Thanks for taking time to do this AMA. My questions is: What do you consider the most important step in the preparation before launch?
Clint Yoo
@frankie_zhang Frankie i'm going to copy my answer above as I believe this is the ultimate discipline to follow: My biggest tip would be to connect with members of the community before or during your launch. At the end of the day, PH is a community, not a voting platform. It's not the number of votes that matter, but rather how engaged actual members of the PH community are with the product!

Hey, @clint_eastyood Typed is a great tool. Shared some feedback on your website too on Brian's page. Looking forward to the blog! :) Keen on learning about your pre-launch activities such as building momentum online and launch day as well. Did you launch on multiple platforms or just here on PH?
Clint Yoo
@derrick_abincha We did it on purpose, because Product Hunt launch should be focused on engaging with the Product Hunt hunters and makers!
Pinar Engur
Thank you so much! How did you reach people to announce your product? Which channel was the best?
Clint Yoo
@pinar_engur Hey Pinar! We basically informed our initial users and people we knew who were already active within the Product Hunt community. Of course, that wasn't enough. So the moment we launched, we started following and reaching out to all people with minimum 50 followers on Product Hunt via Twitter
Pinar Engur
@clint_eastyood Hey Clint! Thank you so much for sharing. It is a great advice :) We will launch our product at the end of next month, and I believe your advice helps us.
Rich Watson
On launch day or leading up to the launch, how many potential supporters did you inform about the launch?
Clint Yoo
@richw Hey Rich, we informed our initial users but was careful if they didn't already have product hunt accounts. It's so much more to get quality votes rather than quantity votes. By quality, it's the WHO within product hunt is supporting your product!
Rich Watson
@clint_eastyood Seeing you only have 38 followers, how many existing PH members did you contact to ask for support, and how?
Jaida Yang
Thanks for sharing! Would love to learn more about the roadblocks that you's run into and of course, the successful stories as well!

Congrats on your successful launch and thanks for sharing. I just launch a small macOS utility today. Maybe it's the wrong publish timing(not the first hour) and there is no visitor. Hope you can share any idea about the what we need to do on the launch day. Also, if you are interested, and we’d like to hear your thoughts! 🤩 https://www.producthunt.com/post...

@xinyi_l Thank you Xinyi! My biggest tip would be to connect with members of the community before or during your launch. At the end of the day, PH is a community, not a voting platform. It's not the number of votes that matter, but rather how engaged actual members of the PH community are with the product!

@clint_eastyood Thank you. It's so late to know that connect with members of the community is so important. haha. Hope I can have a good launch next time. And congratulations on the successful launch for you again.
Clint Yoo
@xinyi_l well you aren't limited in your launches! There's always a next time! I've just upvoted to support your launch. Typed is going for Product of the Week so I'd appreciate it if you can help spread the word!
