I realize that the best answer would be "BOTH", but which one do you find yourself brainstorming about first?
The design - if it doesn't look pretty people will bounce right off
The functionality - better to show off the product or give the sign up form all the focus

Well, i saw lot of pages with just a form to get e-mails and they all made a great launches. I think the product it self makes the pitch for the users.

@henrique_chappuis_ramos That's interesting. If it's not too much trouble, could you name some examples? I'm curious.

@laura_pompeu i saw it on converdy.com and meetedgar.com (some time ago) But when you send traffic to simple pages like that you need some great ads to drive traffic as well :)

@henrique_chappuis_ramos Fair point. I did really like the cleaner look of the pages, though I was a bit lost to what converdy did when I landed there. I guess this is where omnichannel marketing comes in. Very cool, thanks for sharing!

Hard to choose but if the design is ugly no one will look at it IMO!

@abadesi Lol, that reminded me of this gem: http://riversidecomputer.com/ That aside, design definitely plays a major role in grabbing user attention long enough for them to read the message.
