Hi! I'm Valeria, a solo builder looking to connect with other B2C solo builders
After almost 20 years writing code for others I finally decided to start writing code for myself and boy did the reality hit hard! I'm still working full time and, unfortunately for me, my passion lies in B2C tools. In the past year I've learned that marketing consumer products, especially in the productivity sector, is brutal, especially when you have no clue what you're doing and most of the advices and books are for B2B SaaS. Well except for the "Don't do it!".
So if you're just like me, a crazy person that also decided to stick with building consumer products, especially if you're bootstrapping - I would love to get inspired by your successes, relate to your struggles and support however I can!
I'm relatively new to PH (have been lurking mostly, haven't even launched here yet), so if there's a special forum for that - I would appreciate the pointers!
Post your product in one sentence — I’ll give blunt clarity feedback
Building something useful is hard. Explaining it clearly can be just as hard.
I ve noticed a lot of products seem solid, but the value isn t immediately obvious from the first sentence, screenshot, or landing page.
The biggest lie in product building: "ship fast, learn later"
Everyone tells you to ship fast. Move fast and break things. Get to market before someone else does.
I believed this for a long time. When we were building Murror, speed was everything. We pushed features weekly, sometimes daily. We celebrated every deploy like a small victory.
I'm good at building. Marketing is a different story.
Hey I'm James, a software developer from Australia with 20+ years building things professionally.
Most of my career I've been the person behind the scenes solving hard technical problems, shipping reliable software, making other people's ideas work. Unravl is the first thing I've built entirely for myself, and now I'm figuring out the part they don't teach developers: how to actually get it in front of people who might find it useful.
No funding. No growth team. No playbook. Just me, the product, and a lot of learning in public.
If you've been down this road builder trying to find an audience I'd genuinely love to hear what worked for you. And if Unravl sounds like something you'd use, even better.
