I'm Urh, a solo founder with a background in psychology. I spent about a decade building software for other people before building the thing I wished existed. A few years ago I quit the feeds. Better for my head, worse for my friendships, because the feed had quietly been doing my remembering for me. Birthdays, new jobs, the name of a friend's dog. When it went, so did all of that. So I built Kinu: a private place to keep the little things about the people you care about, with a gentle nudge when it's been a while. No feeds, no streaks, local-first so your data stays on your device. Not a CRM, not a social network, just a quiet way to be the friend who remembered. I capped my app's free tier at 10 people on purpose. Does a hard number read as a value, or a wall?

The free tier of my app stops at 10 people. Not 10 as a trial size that quietly grows later. 10 as the actual point.

It is built around a small handful of people, so the number is supposed to be the message, not the gate. It is called Kinu, and I am launching it in a couple of weeks.

Here is what I keep going back and forth on. Normally you pick a free limit to nudge people toward paying, and yes, I did that too. But this same number is also a product statement. One person reads 10 and thinks, right, that is the idea, keep it small. The next reads 10 and thinks, founder put a wall here to squeeze me. Both reads are fair, and I do not get to pick which one a stranger sees first.

When is the right time to launch on Product Hunt?

Because building products has become much more accessible thanks to AI, the bar has had to rise a bit, or at least the expectations have become stricter.

I built my own tool, but personally, I wouldn t launch it on Product Hunt yet because it s still very basic and doesn t even have a website.
