Fastmail has great features, and it's easy to use. I avoid Gmail because I don't like how much data Google tracks and analyzes. I switched from iCloud mail because Fastmail has better email rules, better junk mail filtering, and Masked Email. The Fastmail Notes feature is also surprisingly handy.

(Atom is no longer available.) I used Atom a long time ago. It was super interesting to see a text editor that you could inject your own CSS into, and the community quickly made a ton of plugins for it. Somehow, all of that momentum seems to have been imparted to VS Code. Atom did great things, but it's gone now, and there are better editors in its place.

I keep coming back to Sublime Text. 🤷♂️ VS Code has a faster pace of updates, but Sublime Text is the steady, reliable editor I fell in love with years ago. Its performance is top-notch, its keybindings are engraved in my fingers, and its UI is uncluttered. I said once that using web tech to do basic computer tasks is like using a helicopter to travel down the street. Sublime is like an electric car: it can't do everything, but it's so fast and smooth that everything else feels clunky by comparison.

I started using Portal because I wanted really immersive nature sounds. I've grown up camping, hiking, and being in nature, and I wanted to be able to bring some of that to my everyday life. Portal delivers. Its sounds are high quality, and I use them when I working and when I need to de-stress. I don't use the sleep feature, but I think it makes sense. The UI is a little atypical, but the app is still easy to use, and it feels special. Money well spent.
