What are you building and where are you stuck? I know this gets said a lot but a great place to find direction early on is to talk to users (potential, real, etc.). Often times I see that building for a small audience and truly solving an issue is a great way to start some momentum.
Founders, where did you find real guidance early on?

Augment Code releases CLI Claude Code competitor Auggie
I don't hear about Augment as much as I do Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code etc. but they've also raised more than $200M, so it must be decent. They just announced the release of a CLI tool, Auggie, to compete with Claude Code. Here's the launch announcement. Does anyone use Augment day to day? Is this a viable alternative to @Claude Code ? I tried it out the other day and couldn't get used to not...

Amazing story and congrats on the launch.

Why wouldn't you charge past a certain level of usage? I could be missing something obvious but doing free to try then paid to be a pro user seems like the de facto business model of a tool like this. It's nice of you to cover the costs until now, but charging for it means you can devote time and energy into making the tool better, right? Wouldn't users want that, too?
Built a tool for fun. Now makers love it… and it’s burning a hole in my wallet. Time to monetize?

Wow Windsurf is getting demolished in the poll. How the mighty have fallen.

I tried to use @Wispr Flow but I can't get voice dictation to stick. Maybe I am too old.

I basically mind dump into Grok 4 and tell it to ask me clarifying questions until it can write an effective prompt to build X. Then I put that into Claude Code or Windsurf. I can't be bothered to use my brain to write the real prompt, that's what the robot is for.

What does the AI tool do that QuickBooks, Numeral, etc. don't?

Ship fast but market faster. Time to market beats time in market. If you experiment, listen, and iterate continually for a year, you will win.
What advice would you give a first-time founder?

Watching Claude on the command line is fun but I really want to see the diff view as I have developed a healthy distrust of LLMs. So you can do both as Claude Code has a lot of plugins for IDEs: Claude Code for Jetbrains Claude Code for VScode See Anthropic docs on how to add Claude Code to your IDE for more

I don't really get this. Didn't Google just announce they're licensing the Windsurf tech (in addition to stealing founders)? Did Cognition buy the company that has the licensing deal? Or something else? And also, just wow.

I was hoping this would be for day to day emails, not just marketing emails, but this looks cool!

I don't feel like the original OpenAI -> Windsurf acquisition ever made any sense but it's wild to see this all play out so quickly. To have so many AI coding competitors with so much money in a space that has very little vendor lock-in is good for developers though!
RIP Windsurf :'(

I use @Make over Zapier or n8n to stitch together custom workflows whenever I need to. It works very well and is not expensive.

The main issue I have with @Fyxer , @Lindy , @Shortwave , Superhuman, @Cora , etc. is that they all claim to draft emails in my tone and none of them actually do. Vanilla AI drafted emails are all terrible and without tuning to my previous emails they don't provide me any value. I also find zero value in categorizing my email and would actually prefer to have that turned off. Shoving my emails...
What Fyxer alternative do you know that is good?

Claude Code is remarkably better at returning good code. It's so much better that I find myself wondering how Cursor and Windsurf are not able to be as good given the underlying model is the same (maybe?). The downsides to Claude code are: It costs way more and you have very little control over how long it takes to do things and how much it thinks I don't like doing everything via command line....
Cursor or Claude Code?

This is really cool. It nailed a design from a single prompt for me but I am unable to edit the design it generated. Am I missing something obvious about how to do that? It generated a UI but it doesn't seem like I can edit the buttons/text/etc. and only re-prompt.
