Spent weeks coding a feature I personally thought looked super cool only to check analytics later and see almost zero usage. Meanwhile actual user requests were sitting ignored in my notes.

Now I force myself to stick to a strict rule where I only build something if multiple users explicitly ask for it first.

Was there a specific moment or failed launch that made you stop building for yourself and start listening to users?

My current setup is basically:

Claude checks Codex -> Codex checks Claude -> ChatGPT checks both

I m not a developer, have someone who can help to verify and triple check security issues, but still so at some point I have to trust the AI which is exactly why I make them check each other about 500 times.

Ran a quick test campaign on android and get cheap installs but almost nobody actually started using the app after signing up.

Hard to tell if the ad just brought in curious clickers who don't really care about tracking workouts, or if my first screen has way too many buttons and steps.

For anyone who faced this early on, how do you figure out which side is actually broken first?
