The old app was a directory you visit with intent ("I want to volunteer"). A map with trending spots is something people open with no intent ("what's happening near me?"). That makes it easier to market because the hook is visual and shareable, but harder at cold start, because a map with few pins and a trending list with no activity both look dead.
We built Loical because we kept asking ourselves: why is it so hard to find out what's happening in your own neighborhood?
Events scattered across Facebook, volunteer opportunities buried on nonprofit websites, community boards no one checks the information exists, but it's impossible to find.
Loical brings it all into one place. We're starting in the Bay Area and focused on making local participation as easy as possible.
Would love to hear from this community: What's the biggest barrier that stops you from getting involved locally? Time? Not knowing what's out there? Something else?
Loical helps you discover activities, events, organizations, and opportunities happening around you, making it easier to connect with your local community.
