About

Android developer building practical, no-fuss apps. Currently working on Qibla Compass & Prayer Streak — a free app that combines accurate Qibla direction, prayer time notifications, prayer streak tracking, and a full Quran reader (Arabic + translations, audio recitation, reading progress) in one place. Focused on building things that are genuinely useful for the Muslim community, with no login walls and minimal clutter. Always happy to connect with other makers and get feedback.

What features would you like to see next?

Hi everyone,

We're always working on making Qibla Compass & Prayer Streak better, and we'd love to hear directly from you.

A few questions to kick things off:

Solo-built a free app to 1,000+ downloads — what worked?

Hey everyone

I'm a solo developer and just crossed 1,000+ downloads on an app I built entirely on my own (Qibla Compass & Prayer Streak a free Qibla direction, prayer times, and Quran reader app for Muslims). No ad spend, no team, just building and shipping features based on what I'd want myself.

Now I'm at the "figure out growth" stage, and curious what's genuinely worked for other solo/indie makers here, especially for niche, non-SaaS products:

- Did ASO (App Store Optimization) actually move your numbers, or was it mostly organic community sharing?

What do you actually want in a prayer/Quran app that most apps get wrong?

Hey everyone I've been building Qibla Compass & Prayer Streak solo, and I'm trying to figure out what to prioritize next. The app already covers Qibla direction, prayer times with notifications, prayer streak tracking, and a full Quran reader (Arabic + English/Urdu translations, multi-reciter audio, and reading-progress tracking). Curious to hear from this community, whether you're Muslim and use apps like this daily, or you've just noticed patterns building similar habit/utility apps: - What's the most annoying thing about prayer/Quran apps you've used?
- Login walls and paywalls on basic features seem to be the biggest complaint I hear does that match what you've seen?
- Would a word-by-word Quran translation mode (vs. full-sentence) actually get used, or is that more effort than it's worth? Genuinely want to build based on real feedback rather than guessing. Appreciate any thoughts!
