Adding More Cities!
I built Skyway.run with the intention it becomes the go-to app navigating connected buildings in cities across the globe. Every time I hear from someone, they tell me about a new city with a similar network... and also the same difficulties navigating their skyways!
Where should I go next? A few places I've heard so far:
University of Minnesota: The Gopher Way
City of St. Paul, MN: Skyway System
Chicago, IL: Pedway System
Calgary, AB, CAN: +15 Network
Montreal, QC, CAN: Underground City
Dallas, TX: Pedestrian Network
Turn-by-Turn Directions
I've been looking at lots of options for making the directions easier to use.
A big reason I keep avoiding the "blue dot" is because indoor GPS loses a lot of accuracy (and worse: sometimes with high-precision inaccurate locations). Instead, I've been wanting to explore a few ideas:
Mini-map per building, and users manually swipe as they cross over from one building to the next. Like shuffling cards, they can swipe back if they got lost.
Timer-based blue dot: assume a typical walking speed (or monitor device motion), and trace the directions line as a best effort match.
Capture "street view" and use AR to compare your device camera to known locations, and show AR-turn-by-turn directions.
Let me know what else might work!
