Mine was in December 2023, when: - I had been struggling to find a new CTO for a few months after the previous CTO decided to move to a different industry. - We had just canceled a $100K investment deal and moved from Silicon Valley back to our home country, Moldova, to bootstrap the company. - My co-founder faced serious health challenges, and morale was very low. We recovered by March 2024 we found the best CTO ever, secured another investor with smart money, and pivoted to a more scalable business model.

At Selftalk, we have built an app for self-therapy and self-coaching. We collaborate with top psychologists to document their protocols, simplify them and upload them on our platform where users can apply them independently to address their challenges. We launched the app with a few self-therapy and self-coaching programs that we call "journeys" and currently we are working on adding more. Let's complain about our government. (OK, jokes aside.) Speaking about my country ( Slovakia): I would abolish the obligation to register a company before someone starts doing business and figure out whether it s worth it. (In the USA, they have a better system because people can start invoicing before officially registering their company.) This would solve many issues here. For example, even if we were at a loss during the first few years, we wouldn t have to pay taxes (yes, currently we have to pay taxes even when we are in red). How is it in your country and what would you change?
