Lifetime plan vs. subscription model? Sustainability issue

More and more companies are using a subscription model instead of a one-time payment for a product.

Duolingo, CapCut and the like are examples of subscription models (monthly or annual), while DaVinci Resolve, for example, has a lifetime license.

What do we need to do?

Hi everyone!
We are less than a month away from launching Anchored Growth here on Product Hunt! We're excited to show y'all what we have been building.
I would love to use this opportunity to the max and dive into the community here. Our goal for this launch is to gain more beta users. Beta user feedback has already helped with the design of Anchored Growth so much.

For those who have done this before, any advice on what we should focus on before, during and after our launch?

17 PH launches later: How MindPal became MindPal

We just hit Product Hunt for the 17th time today. When we first started MindPal in 2023, we never imagined that one day 50k+ expert-based businesses would be using our platform to turn their domain expertise into shareable 24/7 AI agents and multi-agent workflows.

But here we are.

From "What's Product Hunt?" to #1 Product of the Day 🚀 Hi, I'm Hira, AMA!

Two months ago, I'd never heard of Product Hunt. When I told people we were launching @AI Context Flow here, they told me to keep my expectations in check.

Fast forward to today: #1 Product of the Day and #1 Productivity Tool of the Week.

The journey was chaotic, humbling, and honestly surreal. If you'd told me this would happen, I wouldn't have believed you.

To everyone who upvoted, commented, and cheered us on: Thank you. Your support means everything and keeps us building.
If you need any tips on how we pulled this off as complete first-timers, ask your specific questions below

What are your good takeaways and useful tips when raising money?

I have come across several statements such as: a single person cannot raise money on their own (you need to be in a team of at least 2 people), it is not worth it because there is pressure on you, etc.

  • What is your experience with raising money?

  • What did it give you, and who did you raise it from?

  • What do you think helped you to a large extent to get the raise?

“Why isn't my Product Hunt launch getting featured?” : My Linkedin Dms are flooded

Lately, my DMs have been full of this question.
While I can t say exactly what changed after Product Hunt s Aug 25 update (since the featured criteria seem a bit mysterious now), here are a few patterns I ve noticed:

  1. Version updates: New versions or re-launches (like Product v2.0) often don t get featured anymore.

  2. No freemium or free trial : Launches without a free plan or trial seem to be struggling to get featured.

  3. Hunter Featured : Having a well-known hunter doesn t guarantee a feature. In fact, recently, the two seem almost mutually exclusive.

  4. Look & feel: Launches that use the same template design or layout as others often get skipped.

Curious to hear your thoughts - have you noticed similar trends?

Do you prefer growing in smaller community platforms over big ones?

Lately, I ve been thinking about how different it feels to build and connect on smaller community platforms compared to the massive social networks. Smaller spaces often feel more personal, supportive, and genuine, but of course, they come with a smaller reach.

So I m curious:
Do you prefer the vibe of smaller, niche platforms, or do you still focus on growing on the big ones?
What makes a smaller community worth your time?
Would you switch to a newer platform if it offered more meaningful engagement, even with fewer users?

Figma acquires Weavy: opening up "a new world of creative possibility as Figma Weave"

@zoink has announced that @Figma acquired @Weavy:

Weavy brings AI + powerful editing tools together on a single canvas where creatives of all kinds can push the limits of their craft. We see AI outputs as a new medium to mold, and we believe the combination of human craft alongside AI generation unlocks more expression and a bolder point of view. We believe the first prompt is the creative starting point rather than the final destination.

Founders: what is your favourite channel for growing your audience?

I m pretty sure most founders grow mainly on Twitter. Or LinkedIn.

But I ve realised it really depends on what kind of product you ve built.

If you re a fashion-focused founder, you probably grew up on Instagram or Pinterest.

Would you pay for a product you could easily rebuild yourself?

As developers, it s easy to fall into the I could just code this in a weekend mindset.

But I ve realized time, maintenance, and support often cost way more than the price of the tool.

Still, sometimes I just can t justify paying for something I know I could make.

Do TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts actually bring users to your app?

Everywhere you look, experts are saying:

Founders are getting hundreds of thousands of users from TikTok/IG Reels/Shorts.

Launching ContentBlocks Soon - Curious About Your Tips (tricks and treats welcome too! 🎃)

Hey PH community,
I m gearing up to launch ContentBlocks soon! We've had unpaid beta - now paid beta - and will soon be a traditional SaaS company trying to really hit scale (exciting and terrifying)!
ContentBlocks is a platform that helps creators turn content that has been historically static (PDFs / Courses / Worksheets / Lessons / Frameworks) into dynamic, personalized learning experiences, keeping the student experience top of mind (where it should be).
There are three main components of the App. 1. Canvas 2. The Agent & Knowledge ecosystem 3. Builder

  1. You can research and ideate in Canvas, a drag-and-drop workspace similar to Miro or Figma. It s where you explore ideas, test concepts, and refine content before sending it to your knowledge base or sharing it with learners. Research a topic, run AI prompt pipelines, chat with copywriting agents, and create documents all in one place.

  2. You can train AI agents on your expertise using a closed-loop knowledge base (We found that this "closed loop environment" gave us better - more curated outputs for learners). The agents learn from your content and instructions which in turn helps in creating workbooks, courses, and interactive experiences that feel like you.

  3. Lastly - the builder lets you create courses, landing pages, chat pages and other customizable experiences. The goal is simple: combine AI with your internal IP to create a user experience that s easy for you to manage and ACTUALLY valuable for your students / members / community.

I spend a lot of time in this community and love seeing how others have stood out with launches, especially in a sea of AI tools (I promise this also works well without the AI elevator pitch). I d love to hear from anyone who s had success (or wish they had more) recently:

  • How did you generate momentum before launch day?

  • Did your launch convert to sales, and any tips on really differentiating leads?

  • Did you pair this with a LinkedIn post strategy / Email list push

  • Did the PH embed banner help drive traffic to the launch?

  • Overall - I m curious about what s worked for other makers and would love to start a conversation here.
Happy to share more about my approach / journey / our launch in here too!

Does OpenAI have the potential to replace LinkedIn? Their latest project.

I often hear that LinkedIn is starting to be cringe, becoming a second Facebook, but let s be honest: it s still a career platform. A little cringe, but it still is.

On the other hand, Sam Altman introduced a new ambition OpenAI Jobs Platform an AI-powered hiring platform, expected to launch by mid-2026.

With AI everywhere - does the future of copy swing back to being (WAY) more human?

Lately it feels like everywhere I look there is content being spun up by AI. Blogs / emails / socials etc. - all starting to sound kind of the same. I'm really starting to notice it in my own inbox - tons of emails feel polished but a little... robotic? Clearly an LLM has had a hand in it (mind you its great when working with customers who speak another language).

It makes me wonder if the real pivot is actually back in the other direction. Do we start to see copy that is more casual / almost raw and unpolished (slang / grammatically incorrect haha?) and more human as a way to stand out?

When LLMs get really good at writing polished copy from prompts - what role is left for humans? (dystopian kinda)
Are we just lightly amending what AI writes, or is there a bigger opportunity for people who lean hard into personality, community, and voice in a way AI cannot replicate? (its likely AI will soon be able to replicate this **)

I feel like there might be a split coming... AI will take care of the bulk content (support docs / SOPs / Technical docs etc) but the stuff people actually connect with (landing pages / positioning for brand etc) could end up being unpolished / human and super casual.
Curious how others see it. Do you think authenticity becomes the main differentiator or does copy evolve in a different direction? (I'd love to hear what direction people see things evolving?)
What % of your posts are written by AI? (for bonus points)

Where should bloggers / creators pivot if ad traffic drops (due to LLMs)?

I ve been wondering about this a lot lately.... If LLMs keep pulling from blogs, news platforms (and obviously other content sources) -> this results in ad revenue keeps shrinking for most folks reliant on this source of income -> what is the pivot for these creators?

My wife runs a food blog that s heavily ad traffic based. Right now her niche (make based content seems to be some of the safest on the internet.. likely way worse for someone with an information based blog) hasn t been hit too hard, but it feels like something that could change quickly.
That s got us thinking about what a pivot could look like.

Niche Product or All-in-one?

We're having some internal discussions about what users would prefer - a wide range of niche products (maybe in more of an app-like ecosystem) - or an all in one platform.
Interested in learning what the community things - primarily folks who use creator tools and publish / sell / create content!

Introducing Ambassadors: For Makers, By Makers

When I first launched on Product Hunt, I had no idea what to expect. I wasn t sure anyone would notice our little startup, and honestly, I felt intimidated. Everyone seemed so established, and I didn t know where I fit in.

But then something incredible happened. A kind comment from @aaronoleary. Encouragement from the PH community. Support from the Product Hunt team when we ran into issues. A hunt from @benln. A thoughtful reply from @rajiv_ayyangar himself.

  • That first launch became Product of the Day.

  • We were later nominated for Product of the Year.

  • In 2023, I was named Community Member of the Year.

  • And now in 2025, I ve been invited to serve as a Product Hunt Ambassador!

What piece of advice would you give to someone who wants to start building a personal brand?

I can safely say that Product Hunt is the first platform where I managed to achieve a relatively large number of followers as a person.

(It wasn't the plan, because the plan was to focus on the Slovak community on Instagram, and I'm honestly glad it didn't work out.)... Anyway...

How does one become a PH Ambassador (asking for a friend haha)

I've taken some time off of PH (tried to maintain my streak) and am really getting used to the new UI and feel of the platform as I jump back into high volume (hopefully high quality) engagement - I presume the overhaul is something I'll be used to really soon.
Curious - for those of you in the know - how does one get that illusive ambassador tag. Again like I said - asking for a friend.

Is Peerlist worth it?

I am curious what everyone in the community thinks about Peerlist and if theres any value to building a community on there in a similar way to one would on PH? https://peerlist.io/danielz - just jumped in to check it out - all insight welcome.
