Kinship Vault seals your passports, IDs, wills, health cards and photos behind hardware encryption on your own device. No account, no cloud, no analytics. Recovery is cryptographic: a passphrase you hold, or a circle of people you trust. There is no reset link, because there is no key on our side to reset with. Now native on Mac.

After iPhone and iPad, Kinship Vault finally feels at home on the Mac

I've been building Kinship Vault for a while now. It started on iPhone, then iPad, and this week it finally became a real native Mac app. Proper Mac layout, light and dark modes, and your vault stays in sync across all three. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

What it is

A calm, offline home for the documents you'd hate to lose: passports, IDs, health cards, deeds, wills, and the photos that matter. You scan them and they're encrypted right there on your device, categorized by people or categories even you can customize. Nothing leaves unless you choose to turn on backup, and even then it's encrypted and locked to your key first.

Most document vault apps feel like generic cloud storage. I built Kinship Vault to work more like a private family records system. It supports 100+ document types across 30+ countries with automatic scanning, expiry reminders, emergency lock screen access, encrypted recovery contacts, and Secure Enclave backed encryption. Even optional backups are encrypted before upload, so I as the developer cannot read user data.
