Nice concept, but signup process is strange. "Tags and keywords"? "Choose categories/markets that apply to you"? When registering as a beta user it seems very confusing.
@vladzima Thanks for your valuable observations, will definitely look into simplifying the process.
I think I should be capturing 'interests" for beta users instead of tags/keywords. I began asking startups to provide tags/keywords and categories/markets, and wondered if I could reuse the same for a beta user sign up as well, for the sake of consistency, and so your observation provides a lot of clarity. Thank you!
I am capturing this data as a starting point in trying to determine what kind of functional value a beta tester could bring. The betafy algo would then work to establish a relevancy score between a beta testers tags/keywords and those of a startup. That said, this definitely applies more to Saas beta usage than to other categories.

@fathomjeevan@vladzima Hey great concept. I completed the form to become a beta tester and found it a little confusing. Some explanation as to what tags and keywords are used for would go a long way, and maybe some example content in a completed profile could help. If you had separate forms/flows for testers and startups, this could help minimise the confusion. Good luck!

Interesting. Will signup soon. Is there any cost? I couldn't see any pricing? If not, what's your business model? just curious.
@vinay123 Thanks. Have not published any cost, since I am still working on determining what my cost is. Ideally I would like to keep it free, because this is a result of genuine learning that came out of my interaction with many of my clients, but once I know what my costs are, I might introduce some paid features to cover my costs.
That said, I plan to keep the core features free.
EDIT: Will be going with the flow, get as much feedback and advice from you wonderful folks, and will keep you updated on the new stuff as we roll it out..

Hey guys, thank you for your response. I am the founder of Betafy.
I really did not realize that we got submitted to product hunt. I think that this listing may be a little too premature. There are quite a few things are I am working on: Improving the UI, improving the backend algo to match startups with beta users and most importantly we are still a week or two away from piloting an improved SDK. Also we have had 60 startups who signed up via early access, and I am working with them to list them. Once they are there, and the SDK is scalable, we will be in a much better position for the exposure.
What do you recommend I should do? Would it be a good idea to request the listing be removed for now? Or just go with the flow and get to interact with folks that are interested?
Its just that I would like folks to not get a partial picture of the platform.
Thanks
Jeevan

@fathomjeevan I would just go with the flow. The site may not be polished, but it's functional. You can always repost on Product Hunt for version 2.0.
@askdaylen Hey thanks, I have been having a separate conversation with Ben@product hunt as well, and this is his opinion as well. Thank you. Will be going with the flow.

Congratulations on getting hunted @fathomjeevan. Good to see another free platform to get the word out. How many users/tester do you have currently? Since you are not paying them, how are you incentivizing them to stick around and contribute? How will you incentivize early adopters in startups to list on your platform, given you won't have enough testers/users on the other side?
@nidhi_v_shandilya Thank you Nidhi. We have about 600 users and 100+ startups signed up so far. I am trying to appeal to two user groups.
Firstly for the early adopters and beta testers, I am hoping to secure exclusive goodies from a startup to appeal to beta users. Secondly, I am trying to invite software testers to either come and expand their experience (and then use the publicly demonstrable experience to secure more opportunities) and/or to come in as a paid resource where we vett the functional knowledge of a tester before they can be available for testing via the platform.
Thank you for your pinpointed questions.

Hi Jeevan,
Interesting platform but it feels very advantageous for startups and not very much so at all for Beta Testers... I have been a beta tester for more than 20 years and more and more as time progresses, there is this notion that beta testers are a plenty and that we should do what we do for free - for the pleasure of being on the early stage of companies... and that's not *really* fair...
[Of course, I realize that some beta testers are not that committed to doing a great testing job and that they are just 'checking out' a product/software/app etc]
And while I saw a few startups on the platform that offered 'lifetime access', it's actually be one of the first 500 beta testers and win a change at a lifetime access so basically you're not rewarded unless you happen to be the lucky 1 out of 500 [and that's if the startup ACTUALLY survives or is honest and rewards that person].
How about putting in place a fair system where startups have to actually give something of value [of course money would be an easy one but many startups don't have a ton of that] but maybe a few options for a startup to choose from 1 of which is money, another would be a chance at winning something of value - such as lifetime access, another would be ? and then the beta tester could CHOOSE what he or she would like - the reason for the beta tester to be able to choose:
the reality is that I find myself testing software and realizing that actually it's not that interesting or well made and then getting a lifetime access is of little to no value to me.
And on the Startup side, maybe a rating system so that Startups don't 'risk' getting people who say they'll do this and that for them and actually do nothing or not much and still expect some sort of reward...
How about making it more balanced and fair?

Cool product. I can see this being useful for location-based solutions. Wonder if a startup can request beta testers by region, city, zip code, etc. 🤔
@lindzora Hello Lindsay, yes that is the idea. Realized this early while talking to a delivery service app and a home security startup from the UK. Initially the algo will do the match up, but I am hoping to provide filters to a startup to be able to do this.

Jeevan, what if we (a startup) are looking for usability testing only, I mean, how interesting our app can be for users and the wishlist? We don't need SDK integration and hopefully the cost of pro-tech and amateur testing could be different in this case. Is there an option for us to find beta-testers within your community?
