Every writing app I tried was either bloated with features I didn't need, constantly nudging me to sign up for cloud sync, or so minimal it offered no accountability whatsoever. I'd open Google Docs, get a notification, check Twitter, and suddenly an hour was gone. Sound familiar? So I built the app I actually wanted to use. WriteFlow is a distraction-free writing app for Android — built around one idea: your writing habit deserves the same discipline as your fitness habit.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I’m the creator of WriteFlow, and I’m so excited to share it with you all today.
As a writer, I always struggled with two things: finding a clean space to write without a million formatting distractions, and actually staying consistent. I wanted something that combined the focus of a classic typewriter with the data-driven motivation of a fitness tracker. That’s why I built WriteFlow.
Here is what makes WriteFlow different:
Visual Motivation: It features a GitHub-style heatmap and streak tracker so you can visually see your writing habits grow.
Built-in Focus: Integrated Pomodoro timers keep you in the zone without needing to switch apps.
Aesthetic & Customization: Beautiful typography (like Crimson Pro) and themes (including a true OLED dark mode) to make your writing space feel like yours.
Privacy-First: It’s completely offline-first. Your words and your data stay on your device.
Why Android first? I noticed a lack of truly premium, distraction-free writing environments on the Play Store that didn't lock basic features behind massive subscriptions.
I’d love to hear your thoughts! What is your biggest hurdle when trying to maintain a daily writing habit? Any features you’d love to see in the next update?
Thank you for checking it out! 🚀
