Stop guesstimating your work. Worktrace solves the "Friday Afternoon Problem" by automatically reconstructing your professional timeline from tool metadata you already use. No manual timers or intrusive monitoring. Privacy-first: Captures metadata, never screen content. Integrates with GitHub, Jira, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket & Google Calendar/Drive. Human-in-the-loop: You approve suggestions before logging. Generate defensible, one-click reports for standups, retros, and client billing.
If you use GitHub, Jira, or Google Calendar, Worktrace is already pulling together your daily work log in the background. No timers. No manual entry. Just a clean record of what you did, ready to review and edit before you share anything.
Perfect for engineers, contractors, and tech leads who are tired of reconstructing their week from scratch.
Your work lives in GitHub, Jira, Google Calendar, Drive, and a handful of other places. Worktrace connects them all, reads only the metadata, and builds a daily work log for you automatically. No timers, no manual entry, no guesswork.
Worktrace automatically builds your daily work log from the tools you already use like Google Calendar, GitHub, and Jira. No timers, no manual entry, no digging through memory. Just a clean record of your day, ready to review every morning.
It only reads metadata. Never your code, never your messages, never your documents. You stay in control.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I’m the founder of Worktrace.io, and I’m thrilled to share what we’ve been building.
What inspired you to build this?
The inspiration came from my own "Friday Afternoon Problem"—that universal feeling of dread when you have to fill out a timesheet or prepare for a sprint retrospective and realize you have no memory of what you actually did on Tuesday morning. I tried manual stopwatches, but the friction of starting and stopping them always broke my deep-work flow. I also looked at automated trackers, but most used invasive surveillance like randomized screenshots, which felt toxic for professional environments.
What problem were you trying to solve?
We wanted to eliminate the administrative "tax" on professional work without compromising privacy. Worktrace.io solves this through Passive Reconstruction. Instead of monitoring your screen or keystrokes, it establishes secure API links to your toolstack—GitHub, Jira, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, and Google Drive—to harvest metadata. It reconstructs a daily timeline based on real event evidence, like moving a Jira ticket to "Done" or opening a Pull Request, which helps teams and freelancers recover the 10-15% of billable time often lost to manual logging errors.
How did your approach or process evolve while working on this launch?
Our approach shifted significantly from "pure automation" to "Human-In-The-Loop." Early feedback taught us that professionals don't want a tool that logs things behind their backs; they want a tool that remembers for them but trusts them to be the final authority. This led us to build a workflow where the tool makes suggestions, and the user simply reviews and approves them. We also realized how fragmented the dev ecosystem is, which pushed us to expand our integrations to include Azure DevOps and Bitbucket much earlier than we originally planned.
We’re here all day to answer your questions and would love your "roast" of our MVP!
