Hi Product Hunt, I'm the maker of Whisperstream. We're launching version 2.0 which is now completely free and open source for both Windows and Mac.
Hold a hotkey, speak, and Whisperstream transcribes on your computer and inserts the text into the app you're using. Dictation and cleanup can run fully local and offline.
A few changes in version 2.0:
Stream-1 Mini is our fine-tuned model for on-device cleanup of English Chat and Email dictation. It removes filler and applies spoken corrections before the text is inserted.
Agent Speak allows you to read or hear replies from Claude Code and Codex, then type or dictate your response.
Cohere Transcribe and Qwen3 ASR support higher quality dictation and more languages respectively.
Dictionary Boost helps cleanup spell names and specialist terms correctly using phonetic matching to support large vocabularies
You also get 39 dictation languages, per-app profile customization, live preview, audio-file transcription, and searchable transcript history. Lockdown Mode keeps everything on-device and can password-protect saved history.
