Hey Product Hunt! π Dipanjan here, founder of WhatsYourShare.
I built this because I was tired of the same problem every time I travelled with friends β someone pays, someone forgets, someone brings it up three weeks later over text, and suddenly the vibe is off.
Most apps solve the wrong problem. They're built for splitting a single bill or tracking one trip. But friendships aren't one trip. They're years of dinners, road trips, shared apartments, random Tuesdays β and the money stuff runs through all of it.
So I built WhatsYourShare around the friendship, not the expense.
A few things I'm particularly proud of:
β The WhatsApp bot β you can add an expense by texting "50 dinner" to a number. That's it. No app, no login, no friction.
β AI receipt scanning β not just OCR. It actually understands the receipt: merchant, tax, tip, suggested split. Point and done.
β Offline queuing β we just shipped this. Add expenses on a plane or in the mountains, and they sync the moment you reconnect. No expense lost.
β Guest members β your friend who refuses to make an account? Add them as a guest. They're included in splits and balances without any sign-up wall.
I'd love to hear what you think β especially if you've tried other apps and hit the same walls I did. Happy to answer anything in the comments.
And if you're the person in your friend group who always ends up tracking the money β this one's for you. π

How does the expense logging through WhatsApp actually work, do I forward a message or start a chat with a bot, and does it pull in context from the group automatically or do I retype everything each time?

@ayewyecΒ Hello, you start a chat with the bot. sending 'help' will give you a list of commands. You can also talk to it in simple english like 'show my groups'. In maintains context as the discussion goes through. You can type something like 'add $50 to the group Camping with equal share', and it will add the expense to the group.

How does the WhatsApp expense logging actually work in practice β do you message a bot number or does it tie into personal chats with friends?
How does the WhatsApp expense logging actually work in practice, like do I just forward a message with a number or does it need a specific format to recognize the amount and who paid?

Logged a group dinner through WhatsApp while we were still at the restaurant and the split was ready before dessert arrived. Honestly didn't expect the receipt scan to be this accurate on a crumpled napkin.

Logged an expense over WhatsApp during dinner and it just showed up in the group β no fiddling with another app. Multi-currency looks genuinely useful for trips with friends abroad.

love how you let people log expenses straight through whatsapp instead of forcing another app download, that single UX choice probably wins more users than any feature list could
