Hey everyone 👋 I built Whatchly because I’ve always felt that movie recommendation systems don’t really understand what I like. I’d open Netflix or another app and scroll trough the same generic rows over and over. Even platforms focused on films often don’t adapt to your unique taste — they show popularity, not personal relevance. So I started building a tool that actually learns from your ratings, likes, dislikes, favorite actors, and the patterns behind them. I wanted something that feels personal — where every movie suggestion has a reason behind it. Whatchly grew out of that frustration and curiosity. And once I started experimenting, the project grew into more than just recommendations — playlists, actor filmographies, taste comparisons, prediction scores for titles, and all the small details I wish existed in one place. I’m a solo developer, and this has been a passion project from the start. I’d love to hear what you think — what feels right, what feels confusing, and what you’d improve.
