I built WakeStory after thinking about a pretty simple problem: alarms are very good at making noise, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're actually awake.

WakeStory takes a different approach.

Instead of only ringing, it can wake you with a short spoken WakeStory — funny, motivational, calm, work-focused, fitness-focused, or something you write yourself.

Then there's Wake Challenge. If you enable it, you have to answer a small set of questions to prove you're awake.

And for those mornings when you dismiss an alarm and somehow wake up again 30 minutes later 😄, Persistent Wake can keep triggering backup alarms while the challenge is still unfinished.

WakeStory currently supports English, Spanish, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, and Bangla.

I also wanted the core alarm experience to work locally without requiring an account or an internet connection when the alarm fires.

WakeStory Basic is free, including Wake Challenge and Persistent Wake. There's also an optional one-time lifetime Pro upgrade for the full catalog, unlimited Custom WakeStories, and unlimited alarms.

I'd especially love feedback from the Product Hunt community on two things:

Does the spoken-message + Wake Challenge concept feel meaningfully different from the alarm apps you've used?
What would you want an alarm to say to you in the morning that would actually get your attention?
