Before Vite, using a build tool was my least favorite part of building anything. But now, whenever I want to build something, I just use Vite. Vite makes things very easy and intuitive. When I was building Swapy, I needed to test a few frontend frameworks. With Vite, it was as simple as adding the framework plugin, and it just worked. To make Swapy accessible to others, I needed to compile TypeScript and build it as both an ES module and a UMD module. With Vite, I just had to add a few lines of code, and it worked perfectly.

For anyone tired of the old bundler grind, Vite's a game changer. But since it is so young, I had to figure out some more complex parts of the settings / rollup config myself and also stumbled upon issues in production that I just could not solve and that left me excluding a certain package from my build entirely. So, prepare for some challenges if you want to use this in big/complex projects.

Maybe one of the most beautiful dev tools ever. It's just so nice to work with. For the frontend of WriteRush, I needed a modern, blazing-fast development environment and build tool. Vite was the obvious and perfect choice. The instant server start and HMR made the development loop incredibly fast. It's a tool that provides all the power of a modern bundler with none of the complex configuration. Thanks Vite team!

Why I prefer Vite: Vite is super fast! When I make changes, they show up instantly, which saves me a ton of time. It’s also really easy to set up and works great for modern browsers. Alternative I thought about: Webpack, Parcel Why not them: Webpack is powerful but tricky to configure. Parcel is easier, but Vite feels faster and simpler to use.

Vite has become the de facto choice build tool for frontend code. And, I am grateful everyday for this. I remember working on legacy webpack stuff and how nightmarish was that stuff. And let's not get into gulp. Vite is easy to configure and has performance to boot. Love it
