Earn passive money for adding an extension on VS Code! Virdl shows small, non-intrusive ads in your VS Code sidebar, status bar, and Explorer panel while Copilot, Claude, or your build runs. Never interrupts. Never in your way. You earn real $ for every ad you see.

Want to pay bills for Claude? Spotify? FOR FREEEE??
Install Virdl on VS code and start earning passive money for doing your daily routine work. Virdl shows you small, non-intrusive sponsored content shown during natural waiting moments in your editor. You get paid for it!
Developers are expected to earn 10$-40$ per month just by installing a single extension.
How do you make sure the ad placements don't slow down the editor when something heavy like a Copilot request or a build is already running?
@mahmut322143Β The extension is fully passive, it's just a timer and some read-only event listeners that sit idle between rotations. The ad swap is a lightweight JSON fetch that happens in the background and gets silently dropped if it fails. It runs in VS Code's extension host (separate process from the renderer) so it can't block your editor even in theory.
Hope it answers your question, do let me know if you would like to know more details!
I built Virdl. A VS Code extension that shows small, non-intrusive sponsored ads on the status bar and side bar, and pays you for seeing them. Not clicks, not surveys, not referrals. Just passive income for time you were already coding.
How it works:
Install the extension from the VS Code Marketplace
Sign in with GitHub, grab your API key
That's it. Ads rotate quietly in your sidebar. Your balance grows.
Detailed docs: https://www.virdl.com/docs
Most developers earn $10β$40/month without changing a single thing about how they code.
What makes this different:
Ads never interrupt your flow β sidebar and status bar only
Your code never leaves your machine (we only see ad interaction data)
Advertisers are vetted tech companies β dev tools, SaaS, job boards
Anti-fraud is baked in server-side, so earnings are always fair
We're in beta right now and I'm personally onboarding every advertiser. If you're a dev tool or SaaS company that wants to reach developers in the most contextual place possible, their IDE, shoot me an email at .
Happy to answer anything in the comments. Would love your honest feedback π

@malay112Β How is this gonna work? would you be training an AI on my code??
@harshil_jain3 No! You will be shown 2 ads: 1 on the status bar and one on the sidebar(which you can drag and place anywhere you are comfortable). You can enable/disable them; a lot of flexibility options are there. You get paid per impression, and we get money from advertisers. Targeting developers is really costly on other platforms (LinkedIn, StackOverflow, etc), where CPM goes as high as 80$/1000 impressions. We provide a much lower CPM, so it is a win-win for everyone.
