Ever booked an 'Ocean View' only to arrive and find a brick wall? I was tired of being 'view-fished' by hotel marketing photos, so I built View From The Room. It’s a community-driven platform where travelers share real, unfiltered photos of their hotel room views, complete with specific room numbers. Now you can see exactly what’s outside the window before you book, not just what the hotel wants you to see. Know the view, pick the room, and end the lottery.

Hey Product Hunt!
I’m Steve, and I’m the founder of View From The Room.
I built this after one too many hotel stays where I paid extra for a "City View" or "Partial Ocean View" and ended up staring at a brick wall, a car park, or a very optimistic interpretation of a garden.
Hotel photos are great at selling the idea of a stay, but they rarely show what’s actually outside your specific window. I wanted to build something simple where travelers could help each other avoid that disappointment by sharing what the view really looked like.
At its core, View From The Room is about:
Real views - no filters, no marketing photos, just what someone actually saw.
Room details - often including room numbers, so you can request a better view at check-in.
A global map - to explore real hotel views from places all over the world.
This is very much a community project, so feel free to have a look, try a search, or upload a view from a past trip if it’s still sitting on your phone.
I’ll be around all day to reply to comments, hear your worst "view-fished" stories, and take any feedback on how to make this better.
Quick note: this is an MVP. It’s intentionally simple and still improving. I’m launching now because real-world feedback is the fastest way to make it genuinely useful.
Cheers!
Quick question for anyone browsing - would you rather:
A) See more real views for popular hotels
B) Better filters (floor, direction, noise, etc)
Curious what would be most useful.
