Hey hunters! ๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm super excited for my first Product Hunt Launch. Why I made this: I started this because regular journaling was tough for me - I'd begin with good intentions but quickly feel lost ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ What I wanted was a guided experience to uncover my blind spots and to help me focus on things that are proven to work. I hope to evolve this first version into a more effective mindfulness journaling app. Why is it called Venice? I decided to call it Venice because my mother believed in the philosophy that life is about the journey and not the destination. She had always dreamed of visiting Venice, but unfortunately, she passed away at a young age. This name was in homage to her teaching me to live mindfully, valuing the journey over the destination. Why relationships? As a Philosophy graduate, I've always been interested in exploring deep topics like the range of emotions we can experience and how to live a more fulfilling life. And few things are as impactful as finding a compatible long-term partner, so I started this series here. The problem: Our modern view of love is still heavily influenced by fictional fairytales ๐Ÿ“š We get some advice on the initial spark, but then...crickets on sustaining a healthy, happy partnership long-term (which requires constant work!). Most dating content focuses on what you want in the other person. However, I saw a lack of resources for understanding yourselfโ€”your values, attachment style, mindset blocks, etc. Solution So, I combined insights from psychology, philosophy, and science into a 14-email series ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป With exercises to explore these areas. How is the personalized assessment put together? Will my reflections be anonymous? Where will they be recorded? In the last email, you will receive instructions on how to generate your own report locally. All reflections are anonymous and don't get shared anywhere. That's the quick story! I'm pumped to get Venice out there. I know this is a vulnerable topic, but I would love it if you were open to sharing in the comments what your biggest struggle has been in finding and maintaining meaningful connections. I'll use the feedback to make the next version of Venice even more impactful for everyone. With love, Ian

@ianwdj Amazing work! This is a struggle for me, and many others I know ๐Ÿ™ What sort of person is Venice best able to help?
Ian Johnson
@chris_robinson10 Thanks; I have created this series specifically for those who feel frustrated with their relationships or lack thereof. The online narrative often emphasizes the importance of maintaining high standards and avoiding compromise. However, this advice may not help people recognize their blind spots that could be causing them to write people off too quickly. It also may not help them distinguish between standards they should hold themselves to versus those they expect from others. This series will be challenging because it involves looking inward for answers, but hopefully, it will also be rewarding.

@ianwdj why only 14?
Ian Johnson
@moon_ma It was initially 21 because it takes 21 days to build a new habit, but the feedback I got from early users was the questions were challenging in a good way, but after doing 21 questions, they were quite mentally taxed on it.

Great job. I really like both the idea and execution of this. Packaging your thoughts, research, and actionable exercises in bite-sized emails is a lovely approach....and who wouldn't want to have fulfilling relationships!?
Kim Tang
Amazing stuff! Really enjoying doing these emails!
Ian Johnson
@kim_tang Thanks, and thanks for the early feedback on the earliest version of this.

Love this โ€” Iโ€™ve always struggled with journaling but know how powerful it can be! Venice is a great, low effort way to have a reminder to reflect everyday.
