VAT Estimate is a free, no-signup VAT calculator covering 31 European countries. Standard and reduced rates, reverse charge and import VAT — every rate carries its effective date, so you can calculate as the rules stood on any past date. Around 100 product and service categories per country (2,900+ in total), each showing the rate with its legal basis and a link to the official tax authority source. Each country has a native-language interface. https://vatestimate.com/

Hey Product Hunt — I'm the maker of VAT Estimate.
I built this after one too many "which rate applies to this?" moments — mine, and those of sellers and freelancers who kept getting caught by the same three things: a rate that changed mid-quarter, a product that looks like it qualifies for the reduced rate but doesn't, and no way to show which rate was correct on the day the invoice went out.
VAT Estimate covers 31 European countries. Three things make it different from the usual calculators:
1. Every rate is versioned. Each rate shows the date it took effect, and you can recalculate for any past date — which matters when you're correcting an old invoice or preparing for an audit.
2. Around 100 product and service categories per country, each with a scope definition, exceptions, and the categories it's commonly confused with — not just a bare percentage.
3. Sources cited. Every rate links to the official tax authority page it comes from, so you can verify before you rely on it.
It also covers reverse charge and import VAT, and for Poland specifically: NBP exchange rates, intra-EU acquisition (WNT), and the 240,000 PLN small-business exemption.
It's free, no account needed, and each country has its own native-language interface. The whole site is static, so it's fast, and analytics only run after consent.
I'd genuinely love feedback — especially from anyone doing cross-border trade in Europe: which country or category should I add next, and what's missing from your workflow?
