Alexis, Filippo & Joe here 👋 After months of building URSOR… the time has come… our browser for kids is ready to launch! 🙌 We’ve hopefully built something that will make parenting a bit easier so you can all spend more time making incredible stuff on PH 😉 URSOR is now live on the App Store! 71% of parents say their child age 5 to 11 uses a tablet to access the internet, and out of the hundreds of parents we spoke to… not a single parent is happy with the current solution for internet access for their kids. Parents have voiced their clear concerns about the content their kids are accessing, the dark UX patterns that prioritize clicks and ad revenue, and their privacy. ❌ With URSOR, we are on a journey to build a kid's first internet experience and puts parents in control of their kid’s online experience.🚀 We've taken an MLP approach ❤️ (Minimum loveable product) to make this a fun, and educational experience for children. Hello product hunt! I'm Filippo, Father of 2, Designer by trade, and Co-Founder + CEO of URSOR. We're super excited to finally release the 1st public version of URSOR - A safe browser for curious kids. We wanted to design an Internet discovery tool to help families unlock all the wonderful knowledge and experiences available on the Internet for their children, including my own, while keeping them safe from harm, inside a browser purpose built for them. I'll let my partners explain a little bit more about our ethos and approach to Design and Engineering, but I was keen to highlight a few aspects that I think make URSOR special for families: 1/ NO ADS URSOR is a browser with an embedded Ad blocker that works on websites and on videos. We believe that the Internet for kids should be ad free. I hated giving my kids their iPad to discover new content and interests, and then having them bombarded with adverts at every click. So we work hard to remove these from our browser. Impressionable children should not be shown Adverts! 2 / NO TRACKING We don't track any personal or user data. Most free browsers and search engines make money by collecting and selling data to ADVERTISERS. We don't do that, and we aligned our business model towards that. We work for YOU the end user, not for 3rd party advertisers. So no data is collected by URSOR. You own your data, and our business model is aligned to this approach (See below). 3 / CONTENT BY HUMANS, NOT MACHINES Most search engines and services rely on Algorithms and recommender systems to show you, and your children, content they might want to watch. The problem with this approach is that users get shown content optimised for clicks, not for quality. Every piece of content available inside of URSOR has been selected by a human that cares, not by a machine, and we think that's important. 4 / WE ARE FULLY EMPLOYEE OWNED We are not a VC backed business, and we will never be. This means we don't serve any interest other than that of our users. Our promise to you is simple. You support the service with a reasonable monthly subscription fee, and we provide you and your children with a service that will always uphold your value and our values. It's that simple. A lot of research, testing and love has gone into the details that make URSOR V-1.0 a wholesome, fun, and educational experience for children, and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have!
