Hellooo ProductHunt! We help underground music/content get discovered fast and organically. Tolo stands for tap on, lift off. Our iOS app (and soon to be for Android and web) allows you to sift through audio/video/images fast — just tap on the middle of any audio/video content to play, or double tap on the far right-hand side of your phone screen until you stumble upon something you love. Then, depending on your next move (and when you make it), you could very well be helping that artist trend (via lapsed play time, promoting, sharing, saving.) The longer you listen to a song, for example (20 seconds vs. 54 seconds), or -- the more you promote/share/save it -- the more likely it is to progress within the app. We're empowering our community to be the algorithm that dictates a creator's ability to trend. Why we've built this (two personas): #1 For the creator/musician/artist: It is EXTREMELY difficult to scale content and be seen/heard, so we're on a mission to help. All posted content starts in our feed at a level playing field to prevent any 'listener bias.' What do we mean by listener bias? Lots of people flock to content that is already popular and that popularity just compounds off itself. Doing so is extremely limiting to creators (and listeners) and leaves out a huge, untapped portfolio/discography and network of artists who have incredible talent but may never be heard due to poor visibility, lack of promotional budget, and the aforementioned bias. #2 For the discoverer: It is VERY time consuming and tedious trying to find your next favorite podcast/video or song to have on repeat (or to share with friends.) We're making the experience flow much faster and simpler (and soon to be even more incentivizing/rewarding.) Alas -- we're created this iOS app to help underground content explode in a genuine, organic manner. Content that receives low engagement falls out of our app's feeding and trending pages, unless it is saved by an individual user. The hottest, most engaged content stays on our monthly viral page. Our goal, in the immediate, is to be the first stop for artists and creators who want to toss their craft into our 'vortex' to see if it sinks or swims (the auto-filter.) From there, they'll have an idea of whether or not to stick with that type of content/sound, or pivot to something new. Subsequently, these insights will help allow artists discern where/how they should invest their creative time with relation to their craft. Additionally, we are a great option for those who want to increase their overall visibility, as we allow anyone to share their creative platform links for those on Tolo to engage with. So -- post your content with us, add external links, and grow your additional presence elsewhere with our help (we're agnostic in that regard.) Final note: An abundance of musicians end up paying for fake streams (without even knowing it.) There are TONS of marketing/playlist agencies out there that take advantage of artists by making them pay for fake streams/plays. Essentially -- they pay for bots. Listeners also are often deceived without knowing it, because it may look like a musician has a large stream count (similar to Instagram influencers with a questionable *follower to like ratio*), but in reality, they (unknowingly) paid for 'bot' streams. So -- we are building this to be the most genuine, organic way for our community to help and engage with artists/creators (and vice versa.) More app version updates are coming soon! Congrats on your launch. This is a seriously cool product. It might be interesting to consider a feature where users can follow their favorite artists and get notified when they release new content. This could help foster a stronger connection between artists and their fans and keep users engaged with the app.
