"Could you please take a look at this and help me understand what the most important points are…" A lot of words before the actual request. TokenTrim is a free Chrome extension that trims that padding before the prompt is sent to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. How it works: • A small ✂ ~47 tokens · Optimize button appears above the prompt box • Click it (or Alt+O) to see original vs. optimized with a word-level diff • Replace, or Replace & Send • Or turn on automatic mode and forget about it Three modes (Light / Balanced / Max), a live token counter, and a tracker of how much you've saved. What it never touches: code blocks, URLs, quoted text, e-mails. If a rewrite wouldn't be shorter, it leaves your prompt alone. Privacy: everything runs locally in the browser. Prompts are never sent anywhere or stored. No account, no tracking. After a month of daily use it had cut my own token usage by about 40%. Honest limits: token counts are estimates (each provider tokenizes differently), and the rewrite rules are English-first today. I'd love to hear where it removes something it shouldn't. I built TokenTrim to trim the padding from AI prompts ("Could you please ", "make sure that you ", repeated instructions) before they reach ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. It cut my own token usage by about 40%.

The rewriter is rule-based and runs locally, so it's fast and private, but rules can be wrong. If you try it, I'd love to know one thing: paste a prompt where it cut something you actually needed, and what mode you were in (Light / Balanced / Max).

Every example here goes straight into the next version's rules.
