Hey PH! I'm pumped to launch Smart Cash. It's a solution to a painful problem I personally felt: having to constantly monitor and chase interest rates on cash products like savings accounts to try to ensure I'm always earning the most on my hard-earned money. Smart Cash automatically moves your cash to our highest after-tax rate product so you can leave chasing better rates behind. Our tech scans rates across cash equivalents on Titan and factors in your individual tax details. It then calculates the highest rate not only before, but after, taxes. @ilyagalushin @chris_robinson10 thanks Chris! Gah, I could talk about the development for *ages* but TLDR is, it was an all-company effort of focus and rapid experimentation. Main challenge was taking a really complex subject/product (e.g., explaining the difference between Treasuries and cash sweep products, lots of tax rules & permutations of customer profiles, constantly changing yields which vary by investment amount, etc.) and simplifying it dramatically to abstract the consumer away from any unnecessary / confusing details. We think we did a solid job but lots of fast-follows to come already based on early user feedback!

I was running into the same issue a couple of weeks ago when choosing a high-yield account. Automating that would be really nice. However I was unable to find the service fee for Smart Cash on your website, is it free for now? Will it always be?

@joseph_ismailyan we charge no fees for Smart Cash today! The Treasury funds inside Smart Cash charge small expense ratios (e.g., Vanguard at 0.09% today) but those are already factored into the net yields shown on our website / in the app. We can't guaranteed pricing will stay that way forever, but we have no plans to charge for Smart Cash anytime soon. Hope this helps!
