Hey PH, I'm Aman, I built Tir: word race.
Most word games are about spelling or async daily puzzles. I wanted to build something live, competitive, and based entirely on meaning.
The mechanic is simple: a target word appears. You get four options. You pick the word closest in semantic meaning to the target. The shorter the semantic distance, the further you jump. First to reach the target wins the round. Everyone in the global room races the exact same word at the exact same second.
A few design choices I focused on:
Honest ranking. I used pure pairwise Elo — the exact same math as chess, with no gamified multipliers or streaks. If you lose to someone 300 points above you, it barely costs anything. I wanted the number to actually mean something.
Semantic graph. The game is built on GloVe + Numberbatch embeddings. Polysemy makes some of the branches behave in unexpected ways, which makes the paths challenging and interesting.
Frictionless. No ads, no in-app purchases, no account signup. Pick an emoji avatar and you're racing.
Just launched. The room is small right now, but the Elo is already stratifying — there are genuinely harder and easier paths through the word graph and it shows in the rankings.
I'd love your feedback on the gameplay, the Elo implementation, or the semantic model. Happy to answer any questions!

Tried this game and found it quite addictive. The game screens and haptics are finely tuned for maximum satisfaction as you play. Playing against live opponents is quite fun and engaging.
